Delighted to see that Ricardo Baeza-Yates （@PolarBearby） is this year's winner of the @TheOfficialACM Luiz Barroso Award （an award named in honor of my longtime Google colleague）.
Ricardo is widely regarded as one of the world's foremost researchers in information retrieval， and many of you may have read is excellent textbook Modern Information Retrieval （co-authored with Berthier Ribeiro-Neto）. He has also played a pivotal role in strengthening the Latin American computing community.
Ricardo's accomplishments and selection would make Luiz proud！
