Coinbase is cutting ~14% of its workforce and testing one-person product teams that combine engineering， design， and product work around AI agents.

Brian Armstrong's explains how that AI has changed the smallest useful unit of software work from a team to a single high-context operator who can write code， shape the product， design flows， and delegate repetitive work to agent fleets.

The old product pod split judgment across roles because code， design， user tradeoffs， and execution each took different skills and time.

The new proposal says AI compresses some of that work， so fewer people can ship more， managers must also build， and Coinbase will cut layers to 5 levels below the CEO and COO.
