Remote control agents from your phone

Remote Control lets me run agents on my own machines and drive them from my phone. I can start a fresh one or take over a session I already have going, and the tools keep running in my real environment the whole time.

The one requirement is that the machine stays awake and online, since that's where the work runs.

Remote control your local machine

The everyday version is an agent on my MacBook that I drive from my phone. Remote Control splits it in two. The agent loop runs in Cursor's cloud, but the terminal, file edits, tests, and git all run on my Mac. It's my real environment, same repo, same services, same half-finished branch, I'm just not at the desk.

The part I reach for most is starting fresh. With Remote Control on, I can kick off a brand-new agent on my Mac straight from the app, without sitting down at it.

And if I'm already deep in a session at my desk, I run /remote-control to hand that one to my phone.

The last one I started this way was from the back of a Waymo. New agent, straight from the iOS app, running on my MacBook back home with all my local setup intact. A notification came in partway through the ride, and I reviewed the whole thing from my phone while my Mac did the work.

Remote control any machine

It doesn't have to be my laptop. Remote Control works on any machine I open in Cursor, including a remote VM over SSH. I can point a heavy job at a big box and still drive it from my pocket, the same way. In the app, all my machines show up together, and I pick the one I want to run on.

Then jump in from anywhere

And I jump in from wherever I am. The run lives in one place, but I reach it from the desktop app, the web, Slack, or the iOS app. Some days I start at my computer, pitch in from my phone, and merge back at the desk. Some days I start from my phone, review from my phone, and merge from my phone, never opening my laptop. The surfaces are interchangeable.

Set it up once

Enable Remote Control under Settings → Agents. On a laptop, also turn on "Keep this computer awake." The rest of the requirements are in the docs.

For as long as I've coded, my setup lived at my desk. If I wanted my services, my secrets, and my half-finished branch, I had to be sitting in front of them. Remote Control ends that. The machine keeps working, I just don't have to be in the room!
