• used the Lyman-break dropout technique (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyman-break_galaxy)
• cleverly grabbed just the data patches it needed
• sifted 1000 objects and rejected brown-dwarf stars and low-redshift galaxies
• wrote a paper with results
