Bloomberg reports that Moonshot runs its Kimi models on roughly 20,000 Nvidia chips it accesses through a confidential deal with Alibaba.
That hardware makes up a substantial share of the total compute behind Kimi.
Alibaba is one of Moonshot's largest investors and expects the startups it funds to run on its cloud.
The 20,000 units from Alibaba are older Hopper parts, and several people close to Moonshot identified them as H200s, the fastest chip in that line.
Alibaba calls the H200 claim completely groundless, yet it did not deny supplying 20,000 chips and would not say what they are instead.
