NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang on selling GPUs to China: America should compete, not concede.
At this event he was the class hosts for Standford students (CS153 )
"What I'm fundamentally against-and what makes no sense to me-is comparing NVIDIA GPUs to atomic bombs.
There are a billion people with NVIDIA GPUs. I advocate NVIDIA GPUs to all of you. I advocate NVIDIA GPUs to my family, my kids, and the people I love. But I don't advocate atomic bombs to anybody. So that analogy is stupid.
Why should certain countries be deprived of general-purpose computing so that one or two companies can benefit from depriving others of it? Why should one industry suffer so that another one or two companies benefit?
It is not true that the technology is somehow going to become infinitely powerful in a nanosecond and therefore take over the world. It is not true.
It is not true that there is no way to defend against it. It is not true. These things are being made up.
Unfortunately, they are being made up in a way that even harms all of you.
You are studying computer science. You are hoping that when you graduate, people will still care about computers.
Everybody should have AI. Nobody should have nuclear bombs.
Can you agree with that?"
