I sat down with @liuxianming Liu, Head of @XPENG_Global Group's General Intelligence Center, for an exclusive interview about what VLA 2.0 can actually do, where autonomous driving still fails, when this technology could reach Europe, and how far XPENG is from putting cars without anyone in the driver's seat on public roads.
XPENG no longer wants to be understood as a car company. It is building a shared AI foundation for autonomous cars, robotaxis, humanoid robots, and flying vehicles, making it one of the most interesting Physical AI companies to watch.
We also discussed the question I find even more interesting: if the same AI foundation can eventually control cars, robots, and flying vehicles, where does the car company end and the AI company begin?
Caveat: Unfortunately, the microphone audio didn't work very well; please accept our apologies for that. However, we have added full subtitles.
