Our guest for this episode is Ming-Yu Liu, Vice President of Research at NVIDIA and lead of the Cosmos world-model project.

Born in Taiwan, Liu is a big Jin Yong fan. At the age of 18, he began training in Chinese martial arts under the celebrated master Xu Ji, a lineage inheritor of the legendary spear master Li Shuwen. He has recently picked up ice-plunge as a new habit. He gets up around 4 a.m. every day for martial-arts training, then dives into an ice bath to help his body recover.

With twenty years in the United States and ten years at NVIDIA, Liu still articulates technical ideas through simple Eastern wisdom. For example, he draws analogies between large models and traditional Chinese medicine. He also often quotes The Art of War - "To prepare everywhere is to be weak everywhere" - when contemplating the technical trends of world models.
