Reuters: The U.S. is getting ready to force a choice on multiple countries in the AI race against China.
Nations that join Beijing's AI framework would lose access to the U.S.-led Pax Silica initiative, according to an internal draft letter obtained by Reuters.
The draft says Pax Silica membership cannot coexist with competing initiatives. Pax Silica links AI models to semiconductors, critical minerals, investment and export controls, so membership can affect far more than model access.
Countries that want American chips and capital while using Chinese open-weight models would face a much harder balancing act.
