EU puts ChatGPT, Reddit, and Roblox under its toughest “digital safety” rules, with 4 months to meet stricter oversight demands.

ChatGPT was designated a Very Large Online Search Engine, while Reddit and Roblox became Very Large Online Platforms after each reported at least 45 million average monthly EU users.

The designation requires systemic-risk assessments covering illegal content, minors, physical and mental wellbeing, fundamental rights, elections and public security.

VLOPs and VLOSEs must also undergo annual independent audits, share compliance data with regulators and give vetted researchers access to data for studying systemic risks.
